The third NANODRUG Scientific International Meeting was organised by Dr. Lino Ferreira and his two ESRs Michela Comune and Josephine Blersch. The Meeting was held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. All Marie Curie Fellows presented their latest scientific results. Seven young researchers from the NANODRUG partners’ labs, not employed by the Network but whose work is aligned with the aims of NANODRUG were offered a bursary to attend these events and present their results. The Network also invited two guest lecturers to present their sicientific research: Prof. Wilhelm Hahnen-Dechent from the RWTH Aachen University, Germany, gave a lecture on “Gold Nanoparticle Toxicity”. Prof. Maria Jose Alonso from University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, gave a lecture on “Nanotech-based drug delivery approaches to deal with antagonistic barriers”. The meeting ended with the visit of the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities in the world, with its magnificent library and its impressive University's Grand Examination Room. The visit of the old Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha and the Fado music concert introduced the teams to the Portuguese history and culture. back to main events page |
